Grants and abundance mindset

I love a picture of an ocean.

It makes me think of the vastness of opportunity out there for you and me. Enter abundance mindset.

I recently read a great Forbes blog post - 5 Ways To Go From A Scarcity To Abundance Mindset. And I started thinking... grants are such a great way to grow our abundance mindset!

Quoting the article above:

"Scarcity mentality refers to people seeing life as a finite pie, so that if one person takes a big piece, that leaves less for everyone else... A scarcity mentality is what keeps many of us from achieving our goals. An abundance mindset refers to the paradigm that there is plenty out there for everybody."

Do you believe there is plenty of grant funding out there for everybody?

I do!
You just have to find the grants that fit you and your organization the best. Here are three things you can do to grow your abundance mindset when pursuing grants:

  1. Believe that you are enough. Grants are meant for people like you who are doing good work and want to do more of it. Funders want to fund good projects!  You just need to build a solid project that matches your funder's goals.
  2. Believe that everyone can win. I'm not saying that grants aren't competitive or that everyone gets funded on their first try. But I do believe that everyone can find a "right" grant for you and your organization, and then it's a lot easier to win!
  3. Look for win-win situations. Instead of feeling competitive and secretive around organizations with similar goals to yours, build connections.  Identify your and your "competimates" strengths and weaknesses, and think about how you can make a bigger difference together!

There's enough for everyone.  There's enough for YOU!
